Professional and personal correspondence of Chapman, including a letter (1909), from F.D. Millet, Secretary of the American Federation of Arts, inviting Chapman to join that organization. Most of the personal letters are condolences addressed to Mrs. Chapman after her husband's death in January, 1920. Among the clippings are several obituaries of Chapman. The printed material includes a few articles and poems by Chapman, as well as a map entitled "Reconnaissance Map of the Northern Selkirk Mountains and the Big Bend of the Columbia River, British Columbia" by Howard Palmer and Robert H. Chapman, (1915). A bibliography of his works, memorial resolutions (passed after his death) by the Executive Council of the Washington Society of the Fine Arts, and biographical data are among the miscellaneous items. Some of the photographs of Chapman feature him on expeditions, while others show him in uniform during World War I.
